October 21 — Let Gentleness Guide Your Words
Verse: Proverbs 15:1
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
Being gentle does not mean being passive.
You can be firm and gentle.
Honest and gentle.
Clear and gentle.
There will be moments when what you say matters.
But how you say it matters too.
Harshness can make someone defensive before they ever hear your point.
Gentleness creates room for understanding.
Before responding when you are irritated, ask:
Do I want to solve the problem, or do I want to win?
Speak in a way that reflects the outcome you are praying for.
Strength does not need cruelty to prove itself.
Prayer:
Father, guard my words. Give me wisdom in difficult conversations and teach me to speak truth with gentleness. Help my words bring clarity rather than unnecessary conflict.
