Psalm 119:7 — Learning to Praise
“I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules.”
Praise grows with understanding. As we learn God’s ways, gratitude naturally increases. Often people praise God only when life goes well, but real praise comes from recognizing His wisdom even in discipline and guidance.
A child initially resists rules — bedtime, homework, boundaries. Later, as he matures, he realizes those rules protected him. Similarly, when believers begin to see God’s commands as protection rather than restriction, their hearts soften. Obedience stops feeling like obligation and becomes appreciation.
An upright heart praises not only for blessings but for God’s goodness itself.
Prayer
God, teach me Your ways so my praise may be sincere. Help me see Your commands as love and not limitation. Give me a grateful and upright heart before You. Amen.
