Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:5-8
Trust is hardest when logic disagrees. We like obedience when it makes sense. But real trust begins where understanding ends. God often guides before explaining.
A family once faced a financial decision. Numbers clearly said “protect yourself.” Yet they felt led to help someone in need. It seemed irrational. They obeyed with trembling hearts. In the following months unexpected provision came, but the greater miracle was inner rest. Anxiety left. Peace came. Their situation taught them that God’s wisdom does not always fit human calculations.
Leaning on understanding produces tension. Leaning on God produces healing — not only spiritually, but emotionally and even physically. The soul at rest often brings the body relief.
Prayer
Lord, I surrender my understanding to You. When I cannot see the future, help me still trust Your guidance. Deliver me from relying on my own wisdom and teach me to acknowledge You in every decision. Lead my steps, straighten my paths, and turn me away from anything that harms my soul. Let Your peace bring healing to my body and rest to my spirit. Amen.
