Hebrews 12:1–3 — Run With Endurance
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. Hebrews 12:1-3
“Let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus… so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”
The Christian life is not described as a sprint but as a race. The problem is not only sin — sometimes it is weight. Not everything that slows us is evil; some things are simply unnecessary burdens: worry about others’ opinions, guilt from the past, comparison with someone else’s journey. These become spiritual weights that drain strength.
A runner preparing for a marathon does not carry a backpack, even if the items inside are harmless. He removes anything that reduces endurance. In the same way, believers often try to follow Christ while carrying resentment, regret, or fear. Jesus endured the cross by focusing on the joy ahead. When we fix our eyes on Him instead of our circumstances, strength returns. Weariness often comes not from walking too far but from looking in the wrong direction.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me release every burden that slows my walk with You. Give me endurance when I feel tired and hope when I feel discouraged. Keep my eyes fixed on You so I may not lose heart. Amen.

The Bible teaches us something completely different: God gives power to the faint. He increases strength for those who have none left. That means you don’t have to pretend to be strong. You don’t have to hide your fatigue. You don’t have to force yourself through the storm. God’s strength does not come after you prove yourself. It comes when you admit you are tired. This verse is written for those who feel faint, forgotten, or worn down by life God specializes in strengthening those who know they are weak. Weariness is not a disqualification—it is an invitation. When your strength runs out, God’s strength begins. He does not shame weakness; He meets it with power. Today, receive His strength. You don’t have to do this on your own. Prayer: Lord, I receive Your strength today. Renew my power as I trust You. Amen.
