Psalm 150:1–6 — A Life of Praise
Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Psalm 150:1-6
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!”
Praise in this Psalm is loud, joyful, and expressive. It is not limited to a building or a moment in a service. Praise is the heart acknowledging God’s greatness regardless of circumstances. The Psalm lists many instruments because praise involves the whole person — mind, emotions, body, and voice.
A woman once developed a habit: every morning before checking her phone, she thanked God for three things. Some days the list was large; other days very small. Over time she noticed something — her worries did not dominate her day anymore. Praise shifted her focus from problems to God’s faithfulness.
Praise does not deny reality; it places God above it. A praising heart stays hopeful because it remembers who God is.
Prayer
Lord, fill my life with praise. Whether in joy or difficulty, help me remember Your goodness and greatness. Let gratitude rise in my heart daily so my spirit stays strong in You. Amen.
