Titus 2:12 — A Trained Life
“Training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.”
Grace does not only forgive; it trains. Many think spiritual growth happens instantly understanding truth, but God shapes us gradually through daily choices. A trained life means learning to say both “no” and “yes” — no to harmful desires and yes to what pleases God.
An athlete does not become disciplined in one day. He practices repeatedly, sometimes failing, but continuing. Similarly, a believer learning patience or self-control may struggle at first. A person who once reacted quickly in anger may begin pausing before speaking. That small pause is grace at work. God’s training is not punishment; it is preparation for maturity.
Prayer
Father, train my heart daily. Give me strength to turn away from what harms my soul and the desire to live a life pleasing to You. Form godly character in me step by step. Amen.
