Proverbs 12:22 — A Life of Truth
“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.”
Truthfulness is not only about avoiding big lies; it is about living with integrity in small matters. God values reliability — when our words match our actions. Lies often seem convenient in the moment: to avoid embarrassment, escape consequences, or appear better than we are. Yet dishonesty slowly weakens the heart and damages relationships.
A shopkeeper once accidentally received extra payment from a customer who did not notice. He could have kept it quietly, but he returned the money. The customer was surprised and deeply moved. That one act built lifelong trust. Honesty may appear costly in the moment, but it creates lasting peace. God delights in a person whose word can be trusted.
Prayer
Lord, help me speak truth in every situation. Guard my mouth from dishonesty and my heart from deception. Make my life trustworthy so others may see Your character through me. Amen.
