The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
Many people believe God merely tolerates them, but this verse reveals something surprising — God delights in His people. He is not distant or indifferent. He is present, protective, and joyful over those who belong to Him. The image is not only of a powerful warrior but also of a loving Father celebrating His child.
A child once ran toward his parent after a long day apart. The parent didn’t stand formally — he smiled, lifted the child, and expressed joy. That is the picture Zephaniah gives. God is not waiting to condemn but to restore and embrace. When we return to Him, heaven does not respond with silence but with rejoicing.
We often focus on our failures, but God focuses on His love.
Prayer
Lord, help me believe that You delight in me. Remove my fear and fill me with assurance of Your love. Thank You for being near, protecting me, and rejoicing over my life. Amen.
