October 14 — Look for Fruit
Verse: Galatians 5:22–23
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Fruit develops over time.
So does character.
Anyone can say the right thing once.
What matters more is the pattern.
Is there patience?
Kindness?
Self-control?
Faithfulness?
Humility?
When you evaluate yourself or your relationships, do not focus only on promises.
Look at fruit.
And let the same standard apply to you.
Are you becoming more loving?
More patient?
More gentle?
More faithful?
Spiritual maturity is not demonstrated by how much someone talks about God.
It is increasingly revealed by what their life produces.
Healthy roots eventually produce visible fruit.
Prayer:
Father, let Your Spirit produce good fruit in me. Help me recognize healthy character in others and also honestly examine my own. Make my life evidence of Your work within me.
