November 22 — The Strength of Self-Control
Verse: Proverbs 25:28
“Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.”
Self-control is often tested in the smallest moments of everyday life.
It appears in how we respond when frustrated, what we say when offended, and the choices we make when no one is watching.
Without self-control, emotions and desires can easily influence decisions we later regret.
But the Holy Spirit helps us develop discipline and wisdom.
Spiritual maturity includes learning that not every feeling needs to become an action and not every thought needs to be spoken.
Prayer:
Lord, help me develop self-control in my thoughts, words, and actions. Teach me to respond with patience rather than react impulsively. May Your Spirit guide my decisions and strengthen my character. In Jesus' name, Amen.
