Psalm 31:1 – “In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.”
Psalm 31:1 is a verse of trust and surrender. When life corners us with pressure, misunderstanding, or failure, our first instinct is often to hide — sometimes in our own strength, sometimes behind a smile. But David reminds us that true refuge isn’t found in escape; it’s found in God’s presence.
Taking refuge in the Lord means choosing to trust Him when our reputation, emotions, or future seem uncertain. It’s saying, “God, You are my safe place — not my plans, not people, not my perfection.”
Even when others misunderstand you or your situation feels unfair, remember: God’s righteousness will defend you better than any explanation ever could. “When you take refuge in God, He takes responsibility for your rescue.”
Prayer: Lord, You are my refuge and my defender. When I am weak or misunderstood, let Your righteousness speak for me. Deliver me from fear and fill me with quiet confidence in You. Amen.
